(Plan)oly with Pride: Celebrating the Austin LGBTQIA+ Creator Community

On August 2nd, we kicked off Austin Pride month with a “Planoly with Pride” party. Hosted at P6, a stunning rooftop bar overlooking downtown Austin, this incredible afternoon brought together creators, activists, and allies to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community. 

The festivities kicked off with a panel discussion moderated by Austin-based freelance writer, Clara Wang. The panel featured an inspiring lineup of LGBTQIA+ creators and advocates including drag queen, Louisianna Purchase, recording artist, DJ, and community organizer, BabiBoi, artist & activist, Theo Love, and Planoly’s very own Senior Product Manager, Ben Morton. The group discussed the importance of showing up authentically on social media, tips & tricks for fueling creativity, and shared valuable insights on how they grew their brands. 

After the panel, the party really got started with a drag brunch. We enjoyed tasty breakfast tacos and margaritas (including the legendary Planoly Pomegranate Marg) while watching dazzling performances by Vylette Ward, Amber Davenport, Cupcake, and Louisianna Purchase. The music choices were immaculate, the outfits were fabulous, and the performances were nothing short of iconic. 

As we all caught our breath after the jaw-dropping show, we took it down a notch to spend some quality time mingling and connecting with other creators. To top it all off, guests had the opportunity to build their own flower bouquets to take home and remember the afternoon by.

We’re so thankful to the Austin LGBTQIA+ community for coming out to celebrate the start of Austin pride month with us. As a lesbian-led company, we’re always looking for ways to show up authentically for and within our community not only during Pride month, but year-round. Our mission is about empowering creators – our platform is built for & by them – so it was incredibly meaningful to spend this time celebrating and highlighting Austin LGBTQIA+ creators.
