Consistent, engaging content is important. It is also time-consuming. Creating content can take you a long time and even result in getting overwhelmed. But if you want some tips on how to make your workflow on TikTok easier and stress-free, we've got you covered! In this article, we give you several simple TikTok hacks. But first, let’s take a look at the value TikTok provides, especially in this video-first social media world.
TikTok is arguably the most popular video-based social media platform out there right now. It’s fun, easy, and the algorithm has proven to be effective in getting content in front of people, regardless of follower counts. For some, the idea of learning yet another social media tool is too much. However, TikTok is actually really easy, and fun, to use.
While there can be popular times to post on TikTok, as with all social media profiles, post guidelines are just that – guidelines. To be successful, you’ll need to not only know when your target audience is most active on TikTok, you’ll need to make sure your content is engaging. That being said, let’s look at some high-traffic, best times to post.
One organization analyzed 100,000 TikToks and discovered some of the best time to post was as early (or late) as 2am on Tuesdays and as late as 11pm on Wednesdays. Another organization narrowed it down to Thursdays at 7pm.
According to The American Marketing Association, one way you can determine the best time to post your content to your audience is to evaluate your top performing posts and find trends. Another thing you can do is to look at your competitor’s top performing posts and see when they are posted. So, even though there are “best” times to post, make sure to post when it’s best for your audience!
Organizing TikTok videos into categories is a great way to curate content based on themes/topics so they are easy to find. Creator playlists on TikTok are available for most users who have at least 10 followers. To create a playlist, visit the “Video” tab. Then, click on “Sort videos into playlists.” Once you create your first playlist, to create additional playlists, click on the “+.” You will be able to name the playlist and add public videos to it.
To add videos to your existing playlists, click on the three dots in the right corner of the video and add it to a playlist. And just as easy as it is to add a video to a playlist, simply click the same three dots and select “remove from playlist” if you no longer want it there.
Having playlists that mirror your content buckets is a great way to keep a collection of inspiring content that you can incorporate into your overall social media video strategy.
There are multiple reasons why it makes sense to have audio captions on your videos. For example, not everyone watches videos with the sound on and not everyone can hear video sound. It’s really easy to make your videos accessible by captioning them.
To add auto captions while creating a video, in the video editing screen, tap on “Captions” located on the right side of the screen. If this is your first time using them, you will need to opt-in. Then, the audio is automatically transcribed. What’s really great is that you can edit the captions before finalizing them on the video. Make sure to save the video with captions.
You can open up commenting on your videos to everyone, friends, followers only or no one. However, keeping commenting on is a great way to build connections with your audience and get more out of your videos. Sure, you might not want a conversation on every post and TikTok planned for that. You can turn comments on or off for each video.
To comment on someone else’s video, if they have commenting turned on, you will see the comment icon on the right side of the video. Click it, type your comment and send.
Sometimes you might comment and then change your mind or receive a comment you want to delete. You can delete comments you made by pressing the same comment icon you pressed on the video to comment and then select to delete it. If you want to delete a comment someone else posted on your video, click the comment icon on your video, click and hold the comment you want to delete and then select “manage multiple comments,” where you can delete it.
Sounds are a huge component to TikToks and you’ll want to incorporate them in at least some of your videos. You can add sounds to recorded videos you’ve uploaded and to videos you record in the app by visiting the editing screen. If you found a sound but don’t have the video ready yet, no problem! You can bookmark the sound to save it.
Now that you know the value of putting time and effort into using TikTok and you have some cool new tips and tricks to use the platform, it’s time to start making a content strategy. PLANOLY is releasing a new video planner feature soon that will help! Check out more here.
